Elephant Hill only releases this stunning wine when the quality is top notch and this 2017 release has undoubtedly reached that point. Vinted from merlot, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and a spash of malbec, it's their take on a Bordeaux blend. It's structured and elegant with black fruit flavours. It's drinking well now although this wine will really come into its own after a few years in the cellar.

"The bouquet is poise and harmonious with fragrances of violet, and medicinal herbs, along with cassis, dark plums, cedar and tobacco lingers with good intensity. Full-bodied, the palate has good concentrated flavours of an amalgam of cassis, dark plums, and red berries, along with violet and medicinal herbs, unveiling tobacco, cedar and oak spice detail. The fruit is juicy and fresh, lifted by lacy acidity, and shows strength and vitality.
