Brookfields ‘Ohiti Estate’ Hawkes Bay Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 750ML

The enticing dark red colour in the glass. Leather, blackberry, cassis, raspberry and dried herbs notes can be found on the nose, whilst the palate is rich and bold. Te 2016 Ohiti Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is defined by its ripeness and exciting tannins.

Ohiti Estate lies in an inland heat trap on the bed of the old Ngaruroro River. Trained on classical VSP trellis system, on gravel soils, Cabernet Sauvignon obtains excellent levels of ripeness, with good colour intensity, clean fruit, and ripe tannin development.

Grapes were harvested on the 16th of April, (thus reflecting the summer heat) and fermented using traditional Bordeaux pump over methods for cap management. Time on skins was three weeks. Malolactic occurred after pressing, prior to going to oak. This offers the cellaring potential of up to 7 years.
