Barao de Vilar was created by Fernando Louis van Zeller in January 1996 in the Douro Valley. A little later, Fernando’s brother, Alvaro, joined the management of the company. The farm received its name in honor of the ancestor of the Zeller family - Cristiano Nicolau Kopke, who was awarded the title of Baron Vilar from the hands of Queen of Portugal Maria II in 1836. The Zeller family is still the legal bearer of the title. The ancestors of the Tseller laid the foundation of the family wine business in the 17th century. It all started with Jorge Fernandez and his son-in-law, Francisco da Silva Moore, the largest wine merchants of those times. The history of fortified wines, which lasts for 14 generations, began with them.
Color - The wine has a deep brick color with an amber rim.
Aroma - The aromatic bouquet of port wine abounds with tones of dried fruit, nuances of nuts, chocolate, honey and toffee.
Taste - The taste of port has a silky texture with notes of ripe berries and fruits, which are underlined by tones of figs, nuances of oak wood and smoke. The finish is long and clean.
Gastronomy - Experts recommend to use this port as a digestif, as well as with a pair of desserts and chocolate.
Alc: 20%
