Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon Viré-Clessé 2020 is a rich, refined and beautifully balanced Chardonnay from the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy, produced by the domaine founded by legendary Meursault winemaker Dominique Lafon.

Crafted from 100% Chardonnay, the wine is sourced from approximately six hectares of vineyards around Clessé, including parcels belonging to Château de Clessé. Some of the vines date back to the 1950s, bringing additional concentration and complexity to the wine.

The 2020 vintage opens with an expressive bouquet of ripe passion fruit, citrus and white flowers, complemented by subtle notes of orange oil, freshly baked bread and delicate mineral character.

On the palate, it is generous and beautifully textured, with ripe fruit and a lush, satiny mouthfeel balanced by vibrant acidity. Citrus and orchard-fruit flavours develop through the mid-palate, while fine mineral tension provides freshness and definition.

Rich without becoming heavy, the wine finishes long, layered and precise, displaying the combination of generosity and freshness that makes Viré-Clessé one of the most exciting Chardonnay appellations of the Mâconnais.
