Hand-harvested from Te Mata Estate's oldest Havelock North vineyards, the grapes underwent traditional warm-plunged fermentation with extended maceration on skins. The wine was then matured for 17 months in predominantly new French oak barrels, enhancing its depth and complexity.

The 2021 Coleraine presents a deep crimson hue with royal purple edges, signaling its vibrant character. The nose is an aromatic tapestry of wild blackberry, blackcurrant, thyme, and cedar, interwoven with the signature Coleraine perfume of fresh roses. On the palate, it offers a precise balance of richness and vibrant energy, showcasing flavours of cassis, raspberry, mocha, and spice, complemented by a distinctive minerality unique to this vintage. The fruit's ripeness cloaks the profound, chiselled tannins, delivering a long, elegant finish marked by perfume, power, finesse, and length.
