The 3/4 tonne Wirra Wirra bell that sits proudly atop our cellars is rung to announce the start and finish of each vintage at McLaren Vale and for other suitable celebrations.

For generations, it rung out thrice daily from the Jesuit Church at Norwood, South Australia at 6 am, midday, and 6 pm, calling the faithful to joyful prayer. In honour of that tradition, the name "The Vintage Bell" is reserved for only exceptional parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon which are selected and vinified at Wirra Wirrd.
The wine enjoyed 20 months in the finest French Oak barriques and comprises fruit selected from a handful of older McLaren Vale cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. The limited number of bottles on offer is an indication of the importance our winemakers place on producing only the finest expressions of this style. Quite simply, this is the best Cabernet Sauvignon that we can produce in the vintage, and it will reward long-term cellaring.
