Les Heritiers Du Comte Lafon Macon-Uchizy 2021 750ml

A different profile of wine to the other, more southerly, Mâcons in the Lafon stable. More open and aromatic with crisp orchard fruit. There is great tension and finesse here. Impressively bright, graceful and gently floral. The Clos de la Crochette's grapes are usually the first to be picked on Lafon's Mâconnais estate, being well exposed and one of the lower vineyards at 200 metres above sea level. The wine is aged half in large oak foudres and half in oak demi-muid barrels. From the northern sector of the Mâcon, near to Uchizy.

The 2021 Mâcon Uchizy is a blend of vineyards within the climate as the northern sector lost 90% of volume due to frost. It has a lilting orchard fruit, and an apricot-tinged bouquet with a spring in its step. The palate is well balanced with good depth, substance, fine acidity and a spicy, persistent finish. Excellent.
