This Caol Ila belongs to Gordon & MacPhail's Wood Finished Connoisseurs Choice series. Bottlings of the new Connoisseurs Choice series represent single cask bottlings or batches of a few casks and special post-maturations. The labels contain detailed information on the special characteristics. A comprehensive aroma profile can now also be found on the labels of the Connoisseurs Choice bottlings. This Caol Ila was initially matured in refill Bourbon barrels. It was then refined for one year in rare Sassicaia red wine casks. Sassicaia is an Italian red wine from Tuscany and is one of the best wines in Italy.

Nose - Dried figs with sweet cured meats and cinnamon spice. Fudge and milk chocolate notes lead to rich smoke.

Palate - Redcurrant gives way to subtle black pepper. Red apple comes to the fore alongside lemon peel and toasted oak.

Finish - Medium bodied with pepper. Forest fruits and lingering smoke.
