Crafted with precision and care, the Nevis Bluff Pinot Noir 2013 is a captivating expression of terroir and winemaking expertise.
The grapes were carefully cold-soaked for 7-10 days, with 30% of the fruit left in whole bunches. This process was followed by fermentation for 7-10 days, accompanied by an additional 7-10 days of post-maceration on the skins. To enhance complexity, the wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation. It was then aged in French Oak barrels for ten months, with 25% of the barrels being new oak, imparting depth and structure to the wine.
The grapes for this wine come from a high-density vineyard with 4040 vines per hectare. The vines are carefully managed with a low yield of just 1.5 kilograms per vine, ensuring concentrated fruit. Each bunch is hand-selected, hand-harvested, and hand-sorted to guarantee only the finest fruit makes it into the final wine.
On the nose, expect brooding aromas of blackcurrant and spice, accented by delicate notes of violet and earthy underbrush. The palate is warm and rich, with a smooth, elegant texture that flows effortlessly. Its full-bodied character is balanced by a good density and a soft yet persistent finish, making for an exceptional Pinot Noir experience.
