The Elderton Command Shiraz grapes are grown on a selected portion of the Elderton Estate vineyard, the vines planted in 1894. The Command has established an enviable reputation since the first vintage in 1984. It is truly one of Australia's best and most highly regarded Icon wines. Accolades have come from the world over, with the 2000 vintage awarded 97 points by Wine Spectator and placed 27 in their top 100 and the 1996 vintage winning Best Shiraz in The World at the London International Wine and Spirit Competition.
Tasting Note:
A deep crimson pour hints at the intensity within. The nose opens with a vibrant burst of red fruits—cherry and raspberry—intertwined with subtle layers of spicy oak. On the palate, this wine is bold and beautifully structured, delivering a precise balance of lively red berries and lifted spice. A rich thread of dark chocolate weaves through the mid-palate, adding depth and complexity.
The tannins, fine and persistent, reflect the character of our old Nuriootpa vines—subtle in their presence, yet enduring in their grip. The wine spent 24 months maturing in new French and American oak puncheons, adding polish and integration without overshadowing the fruit.
Powerful yet poised, this is a wine that speaks of both place and craftsmanship. Enjoy now for its youthful vibrancy or cellar confidently for 15–20 years to uncover its full potential.
