Aromas of red raspberry, sweet leather, and rich Lodi soil open up on the nose, with a hint of silky, spicy Mexican chocolate. On the palate, our Old Vine Zinfandel is full of warm spice and wild strawberry flavours, with layers of brambly raspberry, cinnamon bark, and clove. The complex blend of fruit and spice is well-balanced by this wine’s refreshing, bright acidity, the hallmark of a classic, food-friendly style Zinfandel. Striking out from today’s overblown, high-alcohol Zinfandels, this wine shows the true varietal character with restrained alcohol, finishing with lingering fresh cranberry notes.
