The 3/4 tonne Wirra Wirra bell that sits proudly atop of the cellars is rung to announce the start and finish of each vintage at McLaren Vale, and for other suitable celebrations. Vintage Bell is a blend of only the best parcels found throughout the McLaren Vale, each batch vinified and matured separately for 20months in French oak. 2017 was a perfect vintage, meaning the blend literally formed itself and in fact it was hard to reject anything. Smells
heady notes of blackberry, cassis, tapenade, olives, bay leaves, coffee grinds and dark chocolate with lifted spice and peppercorn aromas.
Tastes
true to McLaren Vale the palate is linear and long with a depth of fruit flavours, weight and as is characteristic, complexing savoury and earthy nuances. The power yet elegance is compelling and engaging and where one sip is definitely not enough. No hurry to drink as 8-10years+ in a controlled cellar will soften and add more complexity, meaning one bottle will not be enough. Made for all fine cuts of red meat.
