Mortlach 'Gordon & MacPhail' 1961/58YO Single Malt 700ml - Private Collection
Mortlach 'Gordon & MacPhail' 1961/58YO Speyside Single Malt 700ml
Selected by Scotland's acclaimed independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail, this Mortlach was filled in 1961 from a single ex-sherry cask that yielded just 137 bottles after 58 years of maturation. Founded in 1823 and the first distillery to be built in Dufftown, it is regarded by many as the most complex and meaty spirit in all of Speyside, best suited to long maturation. Stephen Rankin describes a beautful aroma of fresh orange groves, with velvety chocolate truffles filled with sherry, fresh sweet honeysuckle and chocolate-orange. The palate is heavy and dense with chocolate, orange oil and candied fruit with subtle humidor nuances. The finish is all of the above, with charred oak and a slight meatiness, lingering warm on toasted chestnuts. We are very proud to offer this incredible old whisky from the depths of history from The Beast of Dufftown.
Alc: 44.4%
