Crafted from virgin sugarcane honey rather than traditional molasses, Zacapa 23 is matured at approximately 2,300 metres above sea level in the Guatemalan highlands, where cooler temperatures encourage slow and balanced ageing.
Using the traditional Sistema Solera method, rums aged between 6 and 23 years are carefully blended and matured in a selection of casks previously used for American whiskey, Oloroso sherry and Pedro Ximénez wines.
The result is a beautifully layered rum with luxurious notes of caramel, vanilla, dried fruit, dark chocolate and warm spices.
