An exciting recent addition to the Black Cottage range, from New Zealand’s premium red wine region. The grapes for this merlot were hand harvested from the Crownthorpe Terraces sub-region of Hawke’s Bay. The wine was matured for 18 months before bottling.
The nose has Kirsch cherry, dried cranberry, spiced mulberry and a hint of red liquorice, with lovely savoury, earthy notes. The palate has an elegant structure with fine grained tannins and juicy acidity. Very moreish!

"Deep ruby-red, light on the rim. The nose is gently full, with rich aromas of blackberries, mulberries enriched by a hint of smoke, spice and earth. Medium-full bodied, dark-fruited aromas fill the palate, unfolding spice, smokey barrel, and earthy minerals linger to a dry, long finish. The fruit is vibrant and rich, supported by balanced acidity and good energy. The smooth mouthfeel is structured with fine-grained tannin.
