Lagg 2022 Batch 1 Heavy Peated Single Malt 700ml

Distilled at the Lagg distillery located at the southern end of Arran, this is the first batch of the distillery's inaugural whisky releases. This heavily peated expression was crafted using Concerto barley peated to 50 ppm and was put down to mature in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels for 36 months. Part of a limited release of 10,000 bottles, this whisky has been bottled free from chill filtration.

Nose: Notes of citrus and elderflower nicely integrate with bonfire smoke. Also touches of forest floor, damp moss and tinned fruits. Whispers of embers, ash and tobacco leave too.
Taste: Oily mouthfeel with vegetal peat, tinned pineapple and ripe bananas, but also whiffs of white pepper. Slightly astringent, with hints of plaster and a medicinal touch. Liquorice too.
Finish: Lingering spices, sauerkraut and medicinal peat. Long with a tinge of ash.
