The 2023 Hermitage Blanc is widely regarded as one of the strongest white wines of the Rhône vintage. Compared with the more structured 2021, the 2023 shows a softer, rounder and more approachable profile while retaining outstanding freshness, minerality and aging potential. Jean-Louis Chave described 2023 as a vintage of softness and early accessibility.
Tasting Note
Colour
Brilliant pale gold with youthful intensity and clarity.
Nose
Complex and expressive, opening with quince, white peach, fresh pear, yellow apple, honeysuckle and white flowers, layered with blanched almond, chamomile and crushed stone minerality. As it opens, subtle honeyed and brioche notes emerge.
Palate
Medium to full-bodied with exceptional purity and balance. Rich stone fruit and orchard fruit flavours are supported by vibrant acidity and a powerful mineral backbone. The texture is broad, concentrated and silky, yet remarkably fresh and energetic. Despite the warmth of the vintage, the wine remains precise and harmonious rather than opulent.
Finish
Long, saline and refined, with lingering notes of citrus, wet stone, white flowers and almond. The finish combines richness with remarkable freshness and tension
