Marisco Vineyards The King's Desire Pinot Noir Rose 2018
In the 12th and 13th century, they inhabited Lundy Island off the southwest coast of England. The Kings Series wines were created to celebrate the scandalous stories of these ancestors. King Henry the First is said to have fathered some 35 illegitimate children, one of whom was apparently William de Marisco. Many assume this is the reason the de Marisco family had ties to the Royal Court thereafter – all as a direct result of The King’s Desire.
Made with a nod to Provence, this lighter style rosé has aromas of candied pear and mango with underlying secondary notes of brioche and honeycomb. The focused palate delivers stone fruit flavours while a full-bodied mouthfeel lingers on the palate carrying a juicy acidity.
The Kings Desire 2020 is best enjoyed with summer fare, try it with chargrilled Mediterranean vegetables with kasundi and macadamia nuts.
