Known affectionately as "Baby Grange," Penfolds Bin 389 is one of Australia's most iconic red blends. First crafted by legendary winemaker Max Schubert in 1960, it combines the structure and elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness and generosity of Shiraz. A portion of the wine is matured in the same American oak barrels previously used for Grange, adding further complexity and depth.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep crimson with a vibrant ruby hue.

Aroma: Lifted aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and dark plum layered with dark chocolate, cedar, vanilla spice and subtle savoury notes of herbs and cigar box.

Palate: Full-bodied and beautifully balanced, delivering concentrated black fruits, mulberry, plum and black cherry supported by fine-grained tannins. Hints of cocoa, baking spices and well-integrated American oak lead to a long, smooth and persistent finish.

Food Pairing

Perfect with grilled ribeye steak, roast lamb, beef short ribs, venison, slow-cooked beef cheeks and aged hard cheeses.

Cellaring

Enjoy now with decanting or cellar for 20+ years, where the wine will continue to gain complexity and elegance. Previous Bin 389 vintages have demonstrated exceptional ageing potential.
