When we saw 1859 on the label we assumed it was from 1859 and ordered loads! On closer inspection we realised it’s actually 2019, making it one of the youngest Shiraz in the warehouse right now – how ironic.

All the marketing waffle suggests Saltram released this wine to pay tribute to the year William Salter founded Saltram, however it conveniently fills the price gap created now that Saltram Mamre Brook is slowly pricing itself out of the reach of many of us Aussie Shiraz lovers. Some marketing whiz has just earned themselves a healthy pay rise!

Scoring 90/100 and a Top Value Award by The Real Review, who called this one “A big and bold shiraz, ripe black fruits, anise and cinnamon line the palate. Good line and length.”
