Slightly rose-gold in colour, and it has a mellow, aged, burnt toast overtone to the complex bouquet. It's light and soft, creamy-textured and silky-soft in the mouth, with a clean finish. Drinkability is very good. Great intensity, richness and extra length. It's deceptively easygoing and soft. Excellent wine and very, very drinkable. And it doesn't taste like Marlborough. Tasted: October 2018; Drink: Now; Rating: 95 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
Deutz’s French heritage shows beautifully in this satisfying, mature Marlborough sparkler. Citrus and stone-fruit characters are wonderfully framed by the toasted, yeasty aromas, and a hint of burnt match underscores the wine’s complexity. It’s dry to taste with a good depth of flavour, lovely creaming texture and attractive palate structure. A great example of how good Kiwi fizz can be. Rating: 5 Stars * * * * * Cuisine Magazine 2017 (NZ)
The marriage of Pernod Ricard NZ's fruit at Marlborough with the Champagne house of Deutz's 150 years of experience created an instant winner. Bottled-fermented and matured on its yeast lees for two to three years, this non-vintage wine has evolved over the past decade into a less overtly fruity, more delicate and flinty style.
