Carpano Punt e Mes is an iconic Italian vermouth renowned for its distinctive balance between sweetness and bitterness. Created in Turin in 1870, its name means âone and a halfâ in Piedmontese dialect, representing one point of vermouth and half a point of bitter.
Deep red in colour, Punt e Mes offers complex aromas of aromatic herbs, chinchona and cloves. The palate begins with gentle sweetness and an intriguing touch of bitter orange zest, developing into the characteristic bitterness of chinchona before finishing with a subtle return of sweetness.
More bitter and assertive than a traditional sweet vermouth, Punt e Mes is excellent served chilled or over ice with orange peel. Its distinctive bittersweet character also makes it an outstanding ingredient for classic cocktails including the Manhattan, Milano-Torino and Negroni.
