Deanston 18yo Highland Single Malt 46.3% 700ml
Deanston Distillery occupies a former cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith in Perthshire — the same river that supplies the distillery's soft water and, remarkably, powers the site through hydroelectricity. It's this combination of traditional craftsmanship and unusual setting that gives Deanston's single malts their distinctive character.
The 18 Year Old is matured for the full 18 years in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, non-chill filtered with no added colour, and made from unpeated, locally-sourced Highland barley — resulting in the uniquely waxy, aromatic style Deanston is known for.
Nose: Aromatic, with balanced American oak — floral, malty and grassy, with vanilla and honey alongside hints of tobacco and nutmeg.
Palate: Sweet and spicy, with citrus, barley sugar, gingerbread, Manuka honey and white pepper.
Finish: Dry and spicy, with a warming, gingery, honeyed tail.
