Domaine de la Grange des Pères 2022 is a legendary, cult-classic red wine from the celebrated estate founded by Laurent Vaillé in Aniane, Languedoc, France. Recognized as one of the finest non-Bordeaux, non-Burgundy wines in the world, this 750ml release is crafted from low-yielding, old-vine fruit grown on gravel-limestone soils in the Gassac Valley, cooled by Cévennes mountain breezes.
A masterful blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Counoise, and Petit Verdot, it is made with minimal intervention: hand-harvested, native yeast fermentation, 24 months aging in French oak (30% new), and bottled without heavy filtration for maximum purity.
The 2022 shows a deep garnet-purple hue. On the nose: ripe blackberry, cassis, wild garrigue herbs, black olive, liquorice, smoked spice, and subtle violet florals. The palate is full-bodied yet silky, with polished tannins, bright acidity, impressive concentration, and a long, mineral-driven finish marked by saline freshness and graphite notes. It offers the power of the South with the elegance and aging potential of top-tier Grand Cru wines.
