Smokehead Rum Rebel — now also presented by the brand as Smokehead Rum Cask Rebel — is a bold Islay Single Malt from Ian Macleod Distillers, combining powerful Islay peat smoke with the sweeter, tropical influence of Caribbean rum casks. Smokehead’s current range continues to list Rum Cask Rebel among its cask-finished Islay single malts.
Bottled at 46% ABV, Rum Rebel takes Smokehead’s intensely peated Islay character and adds layers of tropical fruit, caramel and vanilla from the rum-cask influence. The result is a distinctive contrast of heavy smoke and sweetness: smoky enough for peat lovers, but with a richer and more exotic fruit character than the standard Smokehead Original.
The nose brings peat smoke, sea salt and charred oak alongside banana and tropical fruit. The palate develops with smoky malt, vanilla, caramel, pineapple and warming spice, while the finish is long and smoky with lingering tropical sweetness.
