Southern Light Vineyards Seven Slopes of Rising Pinot Noir 2024 750ml
-
96 Points — Ken Gargett, WinePilot
-
94 Points — Ray Jordan, WinePilot
An elegant, fragrant Pinot Noir from Nillumbik in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, combining delicate red fruit with savoury complexity and fine structure.
Strawberry and rose-water aromas are lifted by dried herbs, subtle clove spice and stony notes. The palate is light and finely textured, with fresh red fruit, wispy tannins and lively acidity carrying through to a long finish.
Three vineyard blocks contribute to the blend, with whole-bunch-fermented MV6 providing 45% of the final wine, alongside fully destemmed 114 and 115 clones. The parcels mature separately in French oak, 30% new, and rest on lees for 12 months before blending. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Suggested food matches: Roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto or herb-roasted chicken.
