What is Amaretto
Amaretto is a sweet Italian liqueur with a rich almond and marzipan flavour. Despite the taste, many amaretto liqueurs are made from apricot kernels, infused with herbs, vanilla and caramel. The name comes from the Italian word amaro, meaning bitter, with a little twist for the sweet style.
Disaronno, Luxardo and Galliano
Disaronno Originale from Saronno is the best known amaretto in the world, smooth and rich in its square glass bottle. Luxardo Amaretto di Saschira is made by the famous Luxardo family in the Veneto, with a nutty, rounded flavour. Galliano Amaretto is a smooth Italian style ideal for cocktails.
How to Enjoy Amaretto
Serve amaretto neat or over ice as an after dinner drink, splash it into coffee or hot chocolate, or use it in desserts such as tiramisu.
