Compass Box Secrets of Smoke Scotch Whisky 700ml

In 2024, Compass Box released a limited edition whisky—Secrets of Smoke—aiming to unveil the often-overlooked sweetness in peated whiskies. Crafted by James Saxon, this whisky is bottled with natural colour and no chill-filtration, and is limited to 9,792 bottles.

The blend includes peated single malts from Caol Ila, Laphroaig, Bowmore, Ardmore, and Compass Box’s own The Peat Monster series, aged in Palo Cortado sherry butts, red wine barrels, and Marsala barriques, showcasing a complex flavour profile.

On the nose, there is an initial burst of coastal smokiness, followed by honey, toasted marshmallow, and buttery pear notes. The palate is rich with pear, peach, and melon flavours, transitioning to a citrusy brightness, and finishing with chocolate and peat.

This whisky is ideal for peat enthusiasts, especially those intrigued by its inherent sweetness. Enjoy it neat or with a splash of water, paired with mature cheeses, dark chocolate cake, or nuts to fully appreciate its layered flavours.
