What is Sambuca
Sambuca is a sweet, clear Italian liqueur flavoured with star anise and other herbs and spices, usually bottled at around 38 to 42% ABV. It has a smooth liquorice taste and is one of the most popular after dinner drinks in Italy, often served with coffee.
White and Black Sambuca
White sambuca is the classic clear style, such as Galliano White, Molinari Extra, Luxardo dei Cesari and Opal Bianca. Black sambuca, such as Galliano Black and Opal Nera, adds elderberry or liquorice root for a deep purple-black colour and a richer, fruitier flavour.
How to Drink Sambuca
Serve sambuca chilled as a shot, over ice, or traditionally con la mosca with three coffee beans for health, happiness and prosperity.
